Only Jesus Can Save

There are so many voices telling us that there are many ways to salvation and Heaven.  When we compare Christianity with other religions, we find that Christianity is the only religion that has a Savior who took the punishment for our sins and was crucified, rose from the dead, and is alive now and forever. Other religions require that the follower must do certain works to wipe away their sins or attain a direct path to Heaven.  However, our Bible Journaling verse today says, “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12 KJV)

We can find the graves of all the leaders of other religions, and they are occupied with those leaders.  When we go to the grave of Jesus, it is empty!  He has risen and conquered sin, death, Hell, and the grave, and Jesus is the only One who is living. He is active in the life of the Believer. God’s only requirement for entrance into Heaven is to come through Jesus Christ for salvation. J. Vernon McGee states in his commentary on Acts, “Peter makes it clear, and I want to emphasize that when you come to Him, my friend, you come to Him for salvation. There is no other name under heaven that can save you. The law can’t save you. Religion can’t save you. A ceremony can’t save you. One alone, the name of Jesus, can save you. Jesus is the name of that Person who came down to this earth to save His people from their sins.”

No amount of good works can be done to wash away our sins. Because Jesus was the only perfect sacrifice, coming to earth as fully God and fully man, only Jesus’ blood can cleanse us from all sin, past, present, and future. Each one of us is born with a sinful nature because of the fall of Adam.  When Adam and Eve disobeyed God and ate from the tree, (Genesis 3) sin entered the world. Satan very subtly enticed them to disobey by twisting God’s words. Their sin separated them from having a relationship with God, and the only way for Adam and Eve to be forgiven was through a blood sacrifice, therefore; God killed a ram as a sacrifice for their sins.  From that point on, sacrifices were needed to cover sin.  Jesus became the once and for all sacrifice for the sins of mankind when He shed His blood on the Cross, and He took care of the sins of everyone who comes to Him seeking salvation.

There is a penalty for our sin…death. “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23 ESV)  If we do not look to Jesus to save us, we will die a Spiritual death that will lead us to eternal life in Hell.  We must ask Jesus to forgive us of our sins, and accept Him into our hearts, then we can be assured of eternal life in Heaven. When we surrender to Jesus we are no longer condemned. “Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” (Romans 5:1 NASB)  Because Jesus shed His blood for our sins, we have forgiveness of our sins, and there is no need for us to make sacrifices. “Now where there is forgiveness of these things, there is no longer any offering for sin.” (Hebrews 10:18 NASB)

If you have never asked Jesus to be your Lord and Savior, today is a good day (2 Corinthians 6:2) to make that decision.  You can pray something like this:

Dear Jesus, I believe you are the Son of God.  I believe you died on the Cross for my sins, rose from the dead, ascended to Heaven, and are coming back to take Believers home to Heaven.  I’m sorry for all my sins and ask you to forgive me and take control of my life by sitting on the throne of my heart.  I relinquish all control over my life to You.  Thank you for saving me.  In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

You will find this will be the best decision you will ever make.  Jesus will take your sin and give you a life of peace and joy and walk with you every step of the way.  He will be your best friend!
