Stepping  Out with Purpose

God has given each Believer a pathway to travel in this life.  Sometimes, He changes the direction in which we are going, so that He can work His Perfect Will in our lives. That can be a little confusing at times.  But rest assured, He has a plan, which is always for our good.  (Jeremiah 29:11) As our Bible Journaling Scripture tells us, we must walk in that plan. “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:10 ESV)  When He changes our direction, we need to step out with purpose to follow His lead.

God created us for a reason. Our Scripture says we are created in Christ Jesus, meaning that when we accepted Jesus as our Savior, God made something new in us, our old nature is gone, and He gave us a new nature.  That new nature desires to follow Him and to please Him in obedience to His Will.  That includes when He changes the direction of our path.  We must be flexible in changing when one door closes and another opens.

Sometimes, it can be a bit scary to step out into something new.  This blog is a testament to that. God changed my direction from being involved in the music ministry at the churches I have attended to writing this blog and doing Bible Journaling through artwork.  I’m not much of an artist, but the artwork along with the Bible study, and journaling what I have learned, not only is helping me, but I pray it helps those who read my blog.  My desire is always to point people to Jesus whether it’s through music or my writings and artwork. When the Lord first steered me in this direction, I was hesitant.  I wasn’t sure that He was leading me to leave the music and stick to writing, but the more I stepped out in faith, the more I saw evidence that I was doing just what He wanted me to do.  I had to step out with purpose and follow God’s lead.

We must remember that God is walking with us and helping us along the way. “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you.” (Psalm 32:8 ESV)  He doesn’t leave us to our own devices because He knows we need Him to guide us.  He wants us to step out with faith, and purposefully, fulfill His Will in our lives.

Are you at a sort of crossroads, not knowing which path to take?  First, pray.  Ask God for clear direction in what you think He may be asking of you.  Then, turn to the Word of God.  The Bible is your guide for life.  Then, once you have a strong and clear message about which path to take, step out in faith, walk with purpose, and follow God in the new pathway He has directed you.  As you walk in this new direction, you will find that God’s peace will be with you, and He will walk by your side the whole way.
